I have a secret…I have a secret…
ok, well, I guess it doesn’t count as much of a secret if I’m posting it here, but he’s going to find out this afternoon anyhow, so …. I’m fixing up Badr’s laptop. We have a graveyard downstairs, and I was given pernission to put a new keyboard (tg there was one that fit
), and some more cool stuff into his machine. It’s a used Inspiron 1501, nothing that great, but I though it would be nice to make it look a little shinier.
Also, I got a new job at work… I have to write all the documentation for the company. Everything from New Employee Handbook type stuff to documentation of the servers and a Disaster Recovery Plan. Definitely a bunch more work, but something at which I excel, imnsho.
I am a happy one.

Well, my new job is working out swimmingly for me. I bring my own laptop (well, it’s not really mine, but that’s a separate issue) and work on machines from a monitor at work while playing on my laptop. It’s a great setup. I can switch between 3 or 4 machines at work, so I can have several installs/wipes/defrags going at once, and play on gtalk on the laptop. Who could complain?? The great thing is that it’s not like I’m slacking; everyone does this.
Yay for being back in the field!!

So I am sittin at the row of machines in my new job, talking about WoW and Starcraft and AoC. Yay for IT jobs! And the geeks who work at them!
For real, though, the job seems really nice. I work 10-6, M-F, and it’s super casual. My bosses (I have 2 of them) are very patient and super understanding.
I think I’m gonna like it here.

So I celebrated 2 months clean last night. I know what you’re thinking. Two months? That’s nothing. The truth is, to me, it feels like a lifetime. I’ve been going to meetings every day, calling my sponsor (almost) every day, and following suggestions given to me by my group. That, for me, is a huge step in the right direction. I’ve never before invested this much time and mental energy on my recovery.
Let’s hope it pays off.
